A regular reader just wrote in and told us the following about his experience opening a bank account in Singapore.
As a foreign citizen resident of Singapore I had to sign at least six different documents attesting to the following in order to open a simple personal bank account:
- I do not own any US companies
- I am not a US citizen
- I never applied to be a US citizen
- I am not married to a US citizen and have no plans to marry a US citizen
- If I become a US citizen or marry a US citizen, I will report these changes in status within 3 [business] days under penalty of imprisonment for up to 10 years
If reports like this along with the continuing “war on cash” (and see this) don’t scare the shit out of you, you’re completely brain dead. It becomes more important every day to do everything in your power to protect your wealth and to protect your assets. If at all possible, also get a second passport.
