Buenos Aires, Argentina, Big City Travel Bargain of the Decade?

Buenos Aires

I recently visited Buenos Aires, Argentina and I have to say, my experience was starkly contrasted with Charlie’s. I am not going to rehash everything Charlie covered so I strongly suggest you read his article first, and then my counter to it. I also have to preface my reflections by saying that Argentina is at the beginning of another one of their famous catastrophic currency crises (others may argue that they’re well in the middle of it but I think this is the tip of the iceberg), so your mileage may vary in terms of prices.

Since I already touched on the currency crisis, let’s start with prices. If spending … [Read more]

India's Shocking Lack of Attractive Women

#6

Happy New Years, dudes! I hope that 2013 was good for you and I hope that 2014 is filled with good health, happiness, hot chicks and business success for all our loyal readers. I’m writing on the beach in East Malaysia where I am taking a little New Years’ trip with one of my favorite girlfriends, a very pretty and nice nurse from Hong Kong. I will try to write a little report on Kota Kinabalu soon, but it occurs to me that I promised some more writing on India, so I would like to tackle the subject of the prospects (or lack of) for finding women in India.

I have been to 50 countries now, and I … [Read more]

Nha Trang, Vietnam - Da, Da, Da!

Nah Trang Beach

I just got back from another killer trip to Vietnam, and for the first time I finally made it to the beach paradise of Nha Trang. Nha Trang is awesome, with great party, great food, great value, and some great single dude opportunities. Nha Trang is the epitome of Single Dude Recommended weekend getaway destinations.

Every time I take an Asian holiday these days I end up asking myself the same question: “Why did I not just go to Vietnam?” Sure, there’s nice beaches in the Philippines, but the Filipino chicks are a bore, the food is atrocious, and weed … [Read more]

India: Corruption, Poverty, and Retardation. A Backwater or the Future of the World?

Mumbai

Hello dudes and greetings from Mumbai, India. I have just spent my first two weeks in India and I have a lot of observations to share. While I had a good time in India, overall it is absolutely not a good single dude destination. In fact it is one of the worst countries I have ever been to for a single dude, unless you are a closeted queer like many, many Indian dudes appear to be.

First things first, I would like to say that personally speaking I like Indians. They are very friendly, outgoing and nice. A trip to the beach in India with an imported girlfriend is a good idea. It’s cheap, the food is good, it’s … [Read more]

The Single Dude's Guide to Bali, Indonesia

Potato Head

Bali, Indonesia, is a nice place. Manuel has been going there for the last several years and I finally got to check it out this summer when Team Single Dude spent a very pleasant week there. I can’t give Bali a top score for single dude travel, but it does have quite a bit to offer.

First of all I should mention the Bali breeze. After spending the last several months in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Kuala Lumpur, all of which can be stiflingly hot and humid, Team Single Dude greatly appreciated Bali’s breeze, low humidity and clear … [Read more]

The Single Dude's guide to Guangzhou, China.

Guangzhou

The southern city of Guangzhou, China is the third largest city in China and the center of the Chinese manufacturing powerhouse that has filled the Wal-Marts of America with cheap plastic shit. Manuel and I took a weekend trip down there to explore the scene and in our opinion is not a great option for Single Dudes. While there are some good possibilities for making money and some hot chicks, there are far too many cons for me to recommend it.

First thing that jumped out at us was the price. Guangzhou was shockingly expensive. This was my first trip to the mainland and I was expecting it to be a bargain, but Guangzhou is definitely not even close … [Read more]

The Single Dude's Guide to Saigon, Vietnam

Saigon

I love Saigon.

Known only officially as Ho Chi Minh City, but informally to everyone still as Saigon, the main city of Vietnam is a fantastic place. It passes Charlie’s Single Dude Evaluation with flying colors. Great food, people, party and value make Saigon one of my top 5 cities in the world.

So many things are great about Saigon that it’s hard to decide where to start. To pick a first among equals, let’s start with the food. In my opinion, when you consider the good value, great taste, and health, Vietnamese food is the best food I’ve found on Planet Earth. They have great spicy salads, soups, seafood, fried rice in a pineapple, fresh spring rolls, … [Read more]

Guest Post: i dun unerstan u lah!: An exposé of Singapore and Singaporean retardation

Singapore Flag

I greatly enjoyed reading the Single Dude’s articles on the pros and cons of Singapore. As a European business person I would like to expand a bit on the “Singaporean retardation” described in the cons article. When I arrived in Singapore I was absolutely shocked at the almost unimaginable retardation of the local Singaporeans. Given that Singapore is one of the wealthiest countries in the world and apparently has the highest number of millionaires per capita, I was expecting … [Read more]

The Single Dude's Guide to Patong Beach, Thailand: Sleazy Tourist Trap

Patong Beach

Recently, team Single Dude found themselves on a short trip to Patong Beach in Phuket, Thailand. A lot has changed since I’d been there last about 5 years ago. Patong Beach is now second only to Pataya in terms of its filth and debauchery. I don’t mind the filth, although that’s not my end goal in a vacation destination, so much as I mind all the tourist trap-ism. Phuket has turned into a town for the locals to extract as much as money in as short a period of time as possible from the hordes of Western, Russian, Chinese, and other tourists.

Where to begin? Ever been to a Thai go-go … [Read more]

The Single Dude's Guide to Macau

Macau

We’ve been absolutely dying to visit Macau for years, especially ever since we heard that Macau overtook Vegas as the number one gambling destination back in 2007. Being that Macau is only a short, cheap ($20 USD) one hour jet boat ride from Hong Kong, which is a favorite destination of ours, there is really no excuse that it took us so long to visit.

Right off the bat we’ve gotta say, it was a big let down. Granted we were only there on a week day and it could have been an “off night” but still, given all the hype it was pretty lame. Macau may rake in more gambling … [Read more]
